About Monarch International
Nancy-Ellen came up with the concept of Monarch International in 2020, held the first event in 2021, and acted as the director until 2023. She created this organization to give merfolk the same pageant experience World Universal offers around the globe.
Diversity. Inclusion. Belonging.
While other pageants for mermaids existed, they were not inclusive and left many mers wondering where they fit in. Monarch is a place where all Mermaids, Mermen, and Merfolk are welcome, regardless of gender, race, age*, orientation, size, or marital status.
So Nancy-Ellen set out to create the inaugural Royal Court to help spread her vision and invite more and more mers to come and join in on this fun experience that would give everyone a place to belong, a place to showcase their passions, and boost their philanthropic efforts.
By 2023, proud of what had been created, Nancy-Ellen passed off the title of Director to the first Monarch of Atlantis, Montara Haywood-Hewgill, and in the start of 2024, the 3rd Monarch Royal Court was crowned.
We hope that with your support, Monarch will continue to grow and become a family for all Merfolks.
* Must be under 21 to join Monarch Juniors, and 21 or over to join Monarch International.
